Pfeiffer Beach is one of Central California's best-hidden secrets since the access road is very well hidden. Sycamore Canyon Road to Pfeiffer Beach meets Highway 1 at 0.6 miles south of Big Sur Station and immediately north of the Highway 1 bridge over Pfeiffer Canyon.
On the other hand, the beach is very popular amongst locals, especially amongst dog lovers, so in summer and during weekends it can get quite crowded.
A small creek provides fresh water and swimming opportunities for your friend and a miles-long beach takes care of all the running needs. However, the ocean current can be quite powerful, so stick to the creek and land-locked puddles.
The area is managed by the California Land Trust and is open from 9am - 5 pm.
A $5 fee is required.
