"Initially designed in 1897 by Julius Pitzman, Hampton Park is one of the oldest private residential subdivisions in St. Louis County. In 1913 the historic development became part of the municipality of Richmond Heights, one of the streetcar suburbs that ring the city limits of St. Louis. The district of 80 houses contains significant examples of popular architectural styles such as Tudor, French and Italian renaissance, craftsman, and moderne. The architects who worked in Hampton Park also built the private streets of St. Louis and neighboring communities that have already been recognized by the National Register." ~ Missouri Department of Resources news release
