W. George Eckles specialized in school buildings, designing over 100 schools from Cleveland, Ohio to Johnstown, Pennsylvania in the early 20th century. Many of the early buildings of Slippery Rock University were designed by Eckles. The architectural firm he founded, still located in near-by New Castle, continues to design school buildings throughout the area.
