These two cannons are part of a memorial display at the Fort Lewis Military Museum near Tacoma, Washington.

These two beautiful cannons sit outside in front of the main entrance to the Fort Lewis Military Museum. They flank a memorial to Medal of Honor Awardee S.F.C. Tony K. Burris who was killed in action in 1951 near Mung Dung-Ni, Korea.
The actual memorial is supposed to be "Burris Field" however, when the interstate cut through the middle of Fort Lewis in the mid-1960's the field was lost to the freeway and now only this stone and the cannons remain.
There is very little information about the cannons, other than they are of Spanish origin and were made in 1796 and 1798. What I found most amazing was the detailed etching that covered the tops of the cannons. Be sure to look at the detail photo within the gallery.
