This is a small, little known beach at the confluence of the Beaver River and the North Shore of Lake Superior. It is an excellent destination for rock pickers, who come here to search for rhyolites, jasper, and even Lake Superior agates. It skirts a quiet little bay that is perfect for picnics.
Although the beach is privately owned, there is a posted public access located near the Beaver Bay trailhead parking lot, and respectful visitors are welcome to enjoy the trail to the beach, as well as the beach itself.
In order to log this Waymark, please also do following task in addition to the usual beach category log-in requirements, : find an example of vesicular or amygdaloidal rhyolite or basalt on the beach, and take a photo of this rock and your GPSr, or the rock and yourself. Vesicular Rhyolites or baslat are pock-marked stones formed when ancient molten lava cooled quickly and trapped air bubbles in the stone, created circular vesicles. Sometimes the vesicles later filled with minerals, such as calcite and quartz, creating white spots on a darker stone, resulting in amygdaloidal rhyolites or basalt. You can find a picture of these kinds of stones here in the gallery. If you find other interesting rocks such as agates, feel free to post those too! You can identify North Shore lake Superior rocks with the help of the on-line guide located at this website:

This Waymark is located near a traditional Geocache, # GCP543, which is also know as "Beaver River Booty." Many thanks and credit go to geocacher Candy Apple Green and family for providing information about the beach and directing geocachers to visit it after finding their geocache.
Note: listed coordinates are for the public access sign on the trail which leads to the beach. You should actually park at the parking lot by the Beaver Bay Tourist info office, the lot is located at these coordinates: N 47 15.599 W 091 17.805. Park at this location, then cross the Highway 61 bridge over the Beaver River to the northeast side of the bridge, and you will see the trailhead to the beach from there.
Enjoy!
