Description of Memorial:
Mimicry of the graffiti during WWII, this simple memorial carries a huge impact.
I was visiting friends in Salina Kansas and decided to take US-36 home to Missouri. To do so I had to travel due north to contact US-36, and in doing so passed through Minneapolis. I cannot go through a county seat with visiting the courthouse lawn. Quite and peaceful, almost deserted on a Sunday morning. I had the time to absorb this memorial.
At the top of a set of 19th steps, rising one up the terrace of the courthouse lawn, while in front of your eyes is this large, tan brick wall. In hand written, large, light blue letters the message of the wars covered is conveyed. Three crosses diminishing in size, fades to the back. Then, almost as a after thought, below, small, in white letters, typewriter font, the words "For Those Who Served and Died."
