Patriots Peace is a memorial on the banks of the Ohio River in Louisville, Kentucky, that was dedicated on Veterans Day 2002 to men and women from the region who died in the armed forces during times of peace. The memorial consists of a cube of four white brick walls, with an American flag etched on the north wall. For each fallen patriot honored, a brick is removed and replaced with a glass brick inscribed with the honoree's name and service, which can be read from the interior of the monument. Each glass brick thus becomes a window through which light inward during the day and out into the community at night. The memorial was conceived by former Jefferson County Judge Rebecca Jackson and designed by David D. Quillin.

Type of Memorial: Non-Specific Memorial

In Honor Of: This memorial is dedicated to the sons and daughters of our region who gave their lives during times of peace in the cause of freedom.

Marker Text:
The service of our citizens in our military continues through peacetime, hostile situations, and acts of terrorism that are not part of declared military actions. The memorial reminds us that military readiness is a dangerous endeavor, and honors those who stood ready to serve at any cost. Those remembered here made the ultimate sacrifice. As a name is added, a brick is replaced with glass signifying our loss. This void becomes a point of light which will transform the memorial into a light-filled space each day and illuminate the name. As evening approaches the light radiating outward into the community will ever remind us to celebrate the joy of freedom purchased by these brave men and women.
