Back in January The Food Network filmed at Fort Worth favorite Fred’s Texas Cafe for the show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The much anticipated episode will finally air tonight, June 8, at 9 p.m. on The Food Network. Chef Point Cafe was also recently featured on DDD.

DFW.com, the entertainment website affiliated with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, finished its summer-long Battle of the Burgers this week and finally arrived at a winner: Fred's Texas Cafe's Diablo Burger.

The burger battle employed the bracket-style approach that has become popular with best-of contests, and involved the consumption of 99 burgers from 32 hamburger joints in Dallas-Fort Worth, including Kincaid's, Twisted Root, Burguesa, and Dutch's. The focus was on taste, not service or price. The surprise is that Jakes came in second.

Other awards went to Dutch's for Best Buns, Steak & Shake for Best Value, and Five Guys for Best Fries.
