Northern Pacific Railroad Bridge

In 1883, H.S. Huson, a civil engineer with the Northern Pacific Railroad, was sent to find a suitable location for a bridge across the Columbia River. Huson recommended the bridge be built at Cottonwood Landing, a short distance downriver from Kin-iwak, but during construction, he found himself calling the place Kennewick. The bridge was completed in 1888. Much of the superstructure has been rebuilt, but the bridge continues to be used by the Northern Pacific's successor railroads, in 2004, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe.

The plaque also gives the history of three other area bridges.
