This is one of many granite posts used to mark the "corner" points on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case, the City of Beverly and the Town of Wenham. It is about fifteen inches wide, three feet tall, and six inches thick. The letter "B" (for Beverly) is painted on one side, and the letter "W" (for Wenham) is painted on the opposite side.
To reach the marker, take exit 17 (Grapevine Road) off route 128 towards Wenham. Take the first left onto Hull Street, and then the first right into the Brigham Athletic complex of Gordon College. Go to the end and park. Follow the paved sidewalk around the left (southwest) end of the field. At the bottom of the hill, continue northwest across the open field and into the woods. Then follow your GPS about 0.3 mile to the marker, keeping the stream on your left.
The next adjacent marker heading southeast is
Beverly-Wenham 4, 0.6 mile.
The next adjacent marker heading west is
Beverly-Wenham 5A, 0.4 miles.
