This historic marker sits just to the west of the
Skinner's Butte Columns. Skinner's Butte itself has some interesting history which is chronicled in a nearby Waymark called
Willamette St. Overlook, Skinners Butte Cross.

According to tradition, Skinner built the
Areas first cabin near this site, ca 1846
