The plaque reads:

This adobe house, built by William B. Ide reputedly about 1850, represents a typical frontier structure of the American period. Ide, who came to California with his family in 1845, was the first and only President of the California Republic under the Bear Flag Party proclamation of June 14, 1846.

There is a second plaque a mile from the site at 40' 11.38" N 122' 14.33" W that reads:

Built about 1850 by General Ide, who came to California with his family in 1845. Helped organize the revolt against the Mexican Mandate requiring Americans to leave California, and was the first and only President of the California Republic under the Bear Flag Party proclamation.
