This abstract sculpture from 1976, by Louise Nevelson (1899-1988), displays several posts and other objects that appear to be parts of furniture pieces stacked together. Although the work almost has the appearance of wood...it is actually made of steel.

DIFFERENCES NOTED BETWEEN THE INVENTORY LISTING AND YOUR OBSERVATIONS AND RESEARCH:
The inventory has no description of the work's condition..but it appears to be in excellent condition. One difference to note is that the Sculpture Garden has labeled the work Night Presence II". The Inventory only entitles it "Night Presence". The Inventory does indicate that the work is owned by the San Diego Museum of Art- so, it would appear the Museum has mislabelled the piece.
