Located 2 miles north from downtown Cheyenne. The Airport was born in the summer of 1920 when the United States Postal Service announced Cheyenne as one of the stops on their airmail route. Cheyenne eventually became the first major maintenance hub of United Airlines, a significant B-17 modification center During World War II, and served as the training center for all of United Airlines Flight Attendants until the late 1950s.
Today, Cheyenne is home to Great Lakes Airlines, Wyoming Air National Guard, and the Wyoming Department of Transportation, Aeronautics Division and their planes.
There are two runways, ranging from 6,690 feet to 9,270 feet in length, and the airport serve as one of Denver International Airport’s primary diversion Airports.
