The stone monument sits to the right of this old firehouse, on the lawn, under shade. The monument harkens back to the day when fire trucks were horse drawn. The monument reads: In Memory of Mack the Noble Horse of the Rescue Fire Co. of York, PA. Died Dec. 3, 1911; Aged 32 Years. The monument is an inscribed, rough-edged stele with the relief of a horse's head in left profile on the front.
Medium: Stele: granite; Base: granite.
Dimensions: Stele: approx. 2 ft. 8 in. x 2 ft. 8 in. x 4 in.; Base: approx. 10 x 42 x 18 in.
There is no information available about the house nor could anyone at the museum (that is what it is today; it was converted from its original firefighting use) give me background on the animal.
