From the
cornerstone, this former
US Post Office building was built in 1931, under the Elliot Act, a pre-New Deal economic recovery plan. It was the first federal building in Green River. As was common at the time, the building is of Neo-classical design and is one of three buildings in Green River on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 1967 it was repurposed to become the home of the Sweetwater County Historical Museum.
The 1997 listing on the NRHP also includes the alternative name of Trudel's Restaurante.
The NRHP incorrectly shows the address on W. Flaming Gorge Way, though the address above the door, says E. Flaming Gorge Way. The nearby intersecting Center Street seems to be the E-W demarcation street and this building lies to the east.
