Gustav Winters, a German citizen, moved to Fuerteventura during the 30's. Apparently he was a secret agent, although the full extension of his work is still to be unfolded. Most probably his villa, not far from Cofete was used as a logistics base for German submarines during the Second World War.
Officially he was a man interested in growing vines in the island. He employed most of the population of Cofete in is farming project, developing strong bonds with the local population.
It seems he always walked around in the company of his big black dog, wearing sunglasses. It is no surprise that when the local community decided to raise a monument, his dog was part of it...
Breed: Unknown. Black fur, big size.
