American born Linda Howard (b 1934)produced this work in 1979. She believes that Eastern philosophies are attuned to contemporary physics in thier description of reality. Located in the Besthoff Sculpture Garden and is #16 on the walking tour guide of the gardens. From the Guide book it states:
Sunyatta , Sanskirt for "emptiness of a seperate self" reflects her intent to transform solid matter into spiritual energy. She sands strips of aluminum to give directional pattern and variance to the light reflection. The strips fan out from a central vertical, creating a complex network of light and shadows, which emphasize the transformationfrom matter to light/energy.
