Der Bau des Doppelturms startete im August 2008 und wurde im Dezember 2011 abgeschlossen, wobei er eine Gesamthöhe von 200 Metern (inklusive Technikgeschosse) erreicht hat. Die Bezeichnung Tower 185 stammt bereits aus einer frühen Planungsphase und bezog sich auf die Höhe von 185 Metern, die zunächst für das Hochhaus vorgesehen war. Obwohl man die Gebäudehöhe schließlich auf 200 Meter erhöhte, wurde der Name nicht geändert.
Den Entwurf für den Tower 185 lieferte der Frankfurter Architekt Christoph Mäckler. Aus einem hufeisenförmig angelegten Sockelgebäude erheben sich die beiden Hochhaushälften mit einer Aluminium-Glas-Fassade. Diese umschließen einen runden gläsernen Mittelteil. Mindestens 25 Prozent der Energiekosten eines „normalen“ Hochhauses soll der Tower 185 nach Angaben Mäcklers einsparen. Das Gebäude soll eine Zertifizierung des internationalen Gütesiegels LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) erreichen.
Hauptmieter der rund 100.000 Quadratmeter Bürofläche ist die Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
The construction of the twin towers began in August 2008 and was completed in December 2011, where it has reached a total height of 200 meters (including technical floors). The name Tower 185 dates back to an early planning stage, referring to the height of 185 meters, which was initially scheduled for the skyscraper. Although finally the building was increased to a height of 200 meters, the name was not changed.
The design for the Tower 185 is from the Frankfurt architect Christoph Mäckler. Of a horseshoe-shaped plinth building rise the two-storey sections with an aluminium and glass façade. These include a round glass centre section. According to Mäckler, at least 25 percent of the energy cost of a "normal" high-rise building should be saved at the Tower 185. The building will achieve certification of the international seal of approval of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
Main tenant of the 100,000 m2 office space is the accounting firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC).
