South First National Bank Block - Salem, Oregon - U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Waymarking.com

This two-story structure is one of only four examples of High Victorian Italianate commercial architecture remaining in Salem. The facade has an elaborate decoration of cast iron and galvanized sheet metal. Prior to 1963, five other sections of the building extended to the north, but this double unit is all that remains.

The building was designed by Holly A. Cornell, a native Oregonian. Cornell worked in Salem for several years before moving to Portland. He also designed the Werner Breyman House and the Governor Zenas Moody House, although both structures no longer exist.

Today the building is home to a consulting firm, land use attorneys and the Clockworks Cafe & Cultural Center.
