This house was built in 1928 after Delta Phi, a sorority at Willamette University, purchased the property. Later, Delta Phi, a local group, became a chapter of the national Delta Gamma women's fraternity. The building continued as a sorority house until the 1960s, when new sorority houses were built along Mill Street, on the Willamette University campus. The house later served as a foster home for boys and at the time of the National Register nomination was owned by the Catholic Center for Community Service.
