This English Cottage style house is located on the west bank of Mill Creek, where Court Street ends. A footbridge allows the sidewalk in front of the house to continue across Mill Creek when Court Street continues, allowing pedestrian and bicycle traffic to pass. The house was built in 1929 for Adolph C. and Olga Haag. Mr. Haag owned a farm machinery company at the north end of 17th street, was director of the board of Salem Memorial Hospital and acknowledged by the City of Salem with their "First Citizen" award. By 1937, the house was owned by Mary and Linn C. Smith.
