Kostel sv. Jakuba je poprvé doložen k roku 1359. V 16. století byl farním kostelem samostatného Svatojakubského predmestí. Po husitských válkách byl hrbitov kolem kostela hlavním mestským pohrebištem. Hrbitov byl užíván do roku 1866, kdy se hlavním mestským hrbitovem stal nový hrbitov u kostela sv. Antonína. Od konce druhé svetové války slouží kostel pravoslavné církvi. Slouží zejména verícím z rad volynských Cechu, kterí se v Žatci a jeho okolí usadili.

Church of St. James was first documented in the year 1359. In the 16th century it was the parish church of the independent village named St James suburb. After the Hussite wars, the cemetery around the church became main city graveyard. The cemetery was used until 1866, when the new cemetery at the church of St. Anthony was opened. Since the end of World War II serving Eastern Orthodox Church. It serves mainly to Volhynia Czechs, who are in Zatec and its surroundings settled.
