In 1905 the George Fabyan bought a 10 acres with a small house. He later expanded this to a nearly 600 acre estate with Japanese garden, Dutch windmill, swimming pool, private zoo and tennis court. In 1907, he and his wife, Nelle, commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to enlarge and redesign their house. The resulting house is a Praire School style house. The Fabyans remained in the house until 1939.
The house is now on a forest preserve and the is operated as a museum. Tours are available May 15- Oct 15 Wed & Thur 1:00 - 4:00 pm Sat, Sun & Holidays 1:00 - 4:30.
