In St. Johnsbury, off Railroad Street, is the vertical control survey disk, marked P3, in the NGS database as PG0118.
The building is located by the railroad tracks that run North-South through the village. From U.S. Route coming into the village from the east, turn south onto Railroad Street (still Route 2).
The mark is on the north end of the building to the left of an entrance. It is 8 inches from the pavement, and at the time of visit, partially obscured by a branch pile.
The mark is a circular bronze disk. The text on it is as follows:
Along the edge: "BENCHMARK - W.S. COAST & GEODETIC SURVEY"
Next circle in: Usual statements about the monument and penalty for disturbing it.
Outside the inner circle: "ELEV. 576.561 FT"
