On the eastern facade of St. Stephen's Cathedral is a stone tablet (probably an epitaph) with a Latin text. The first 10 lines each result in the year 1728. The following 4 lines and the concluding two-line text result in the year 1729. Since it was obviously difficult to accommodate the texts in the lines, the spaces between the words are sometimes not clearly visible. The inscription reads:

borMastIn CVbat hIC antonIVs, ante seDVXor (1728)
aVLae LIngVarVM DoCtor In Vrbe fVIt:

Unfortunately, it is impossible for us to translate the text. "antonIVs borMastInVs" or "borMastIn antonIVs" is apparently the name of the person in charge. However, other first names appear, such as "IaCobVs" (Jakobus = Jacob) and "MarIa" (Maria = Mary). Presumably the person was a doctor or studied medicine. If someone is able to translate this text, I would be happy to insert it here (of course with a reference to the source).
