Major David Ziegler fought in the early Indian Wars, the American Revolutionary War. Following the Revolutions, Major Ziegler served as the first mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, serving from 1802-1803. Major Ziegler is buried in the Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.

Born in 1748…having served with reputation in the Army of Russia, he migrated to Pennsylvania in 1775. He joined the standard of Washington and served with honor in the American Revolution till by the Treaty of 1783m the independence of his adopted country was acknowledged. In the Western County he served under General Harmer and St. Clair and died in this city in September 1811. Universally esteemed and respected.
