This category was revised but not overhauled on August 20, 2020. Please review before posting. The tl;dr version is:
Your default photo should include as much of the building as possible, and the entrance should be clearly visible.
Instructions for Posting a Starbucks Stores Waymark:
For the purpose of this category, a cafe, restaurant, airline, store, kiosk etc. that serves Starbucks coffee in addition to other things not licensed by Starbucks, is not a Starbucks and is not eligible for a waymark. If in doubt, look to see if it is listed on Starbucks website. If it is, post it! There are occasional Starbucks locations that do not make it to the website, and those will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
Starbucks waymarks must include GPS coordinates and a QUALITY photo of the location. Low quality cell phone photos, out of focus, and "only" photos of the back or side of the store are not accepted. The photo must include the front entrance of the store and as much of the whole building as possible if it is a stand alone store. We're not looking for one photo of part of the store and then a separate photo of the entrance to fulfill this requirement. The 'front entrance', for the purpose of this category, is defined as one of the main doors used to enter and exit the store. Drive-thru windows, walk-up windows and doors that are hidden behind other objects -- including but not limited to cars, people, poles, other building structures -- are not accepted. If the store is in a mall or strip mall, the photo must contain the whole store front. In the case of a strip mall, the front entrance must be visible in the photo. For those who are having trouble with the definition of a front entrance: front entrance is a door that is used for human (and sometimes animal) traffic into and out of a building. If in doubt, wait for a human to perform this action, and there you will have found the front entrance. For those of you who find this a bit condescending, try being an officer for this category and you will understand why this is necessary! Yes, we know there's a door there, but your mission is to photograph it, not explain where it is and ask the reviewer to find it on Google Maps.
If the Starbucks is in a grocery store, the photo must be of the 'store front' inside the grocery store, NOT the little sign on the outside of the whole grocery store. Locations inside food courts, downtown buildings, and the like will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, but when in doubt, include a photo of the barista area. Sometimes it will require two or more photos to meet the photo requirement, so if in doubt, take many photos!
If the Starbucks is a drive-thru only store, at least two photos are required: one of the whole store showing the drive-thru window (not the menu with the speaker) and one showing the walk-up window. We need to be able to see the entire store.
By posting, you are agreeing that all photos were taken by you personally. No Assisted Waymarks will be accepted: Find your own.
In addition to the photo(s), please also include the following information:
Hours of Operation
Physical Address
Wifi Access
Relative Size & Amenities
Drive-Thru
Food and/or Lunch Available
Submissions deemed to be drive-by waymarks, which include blurry photos, reflections of car interiors, photobombs of people or vehicles that take up a good portion of the photo, will be declined. Please wait until the car going by is out of the shot, and get out of your vehicle to take photos. It is not difficult to take photos of a Starbucks that you personally visit, upon entering or exiting, and we are not interested in quickie waymarks from photos taken on a drive 'round the area. Your default building photo should show more Starbucks than parking lot. Rules lawyers should spend more time on following category requirements than they should spend time on arguing why their declined waymark should be accepted.
Naming:
Please use the naming convention on the Starbucks website, although one should be aware that they occasionally goof on things like "road" versus "street" and so forth, and helpful edits are nice. In an area where there are multiple Starbucks, it is best to provide cross streets in the name, rather than "Starbucks - Large City, USA" or some such. For a grocery store please include the store number in the title, e.g. "Starbucks - Safeway #1537 - Zephyr, CA", "Starbucks - Target #775 - Tyler, TX", or "Starbucks - Market Street #526 - Amarillo, TX".
Hours:
Please use a Sunday - Saturday or Monday - Sunday format. If copying and pasting from the Starbucks website, please do not include holiday or special hours. When in doubt, take a photo of the hours at the door when you enter the location. Due to a site bug, you'll need to use HTML page breaks unless you separate things with commas. We're not trying to be nitpicky here other than maintaining accuracy, but we would like to avoid a large jumble of unformatted text.
