The swift Confederate blockade runner NASHVILLE (renamed RATTLESNAKE) was destroyed by the monitor MONTAUK, February 28, 1863, after she went aground on a sandbar in a hairpin bend of the Ogeechee River. Machinery from the NASHVILLE is displayed here

This is the second USS Laffey. The first was sunk in November, 1942 off Guadalcanal. This one was launched Nov. 21, 1943,Commissioned Feb. 8, 1944 and Decommissioned March 29, 1975. Now afloat at Patriots Point, Charleston Harbor, South Carolina.

There is only Soviet guided nuclear missle submarine known to be in the United States, and the Juliett 484 is well worth checking out. Gone for a few years now. As of 04/01/2017 they are in the process of cutting it up for scrap metal.
