Description:

Find a picture taken over 50 years ago, find the spot, and take a current picture at the same spot towards the same location.
Expanded Description:
This is a unique historical challenge. Progress shapes and changes the locations around us, and this category was designed to share the changes through the historical record.

Your task, if you choose to accept it, is to find a public domain photo (or one you have personally taken or own), and take as close to an identical photo at the same location where the original photo was taken and in the same direction. The original photo should at least be 50 years old or older, but if the photo has uniquely changed over time a more current photo is acceptable, but will be left up to the officers to make the final decision.

Here's an example of a now and then photo of Fremont in Seattle.

Instructions for Posting a Photos Then and Now Waymark:

1) Naming Your Waymark

A. Name your waymark using the current location or building name.

B. Include the city/town or county/province where the location or building is found.

Examples:
Brewster County Courthouse - Alpine, TX
Brunner Building - Jacksonville, OR

2) 2 Photos - You will need to provide both a before and after picture upload to the web site in order for your waymark to be listed. If you don't know the exact year the photo was taken the approximate date is acceptable in the decade such as 1950. Just post a note in your description so others know.

Please make your default photo the "Then" photo. A collage of the Then and Now" photos showing them side by side is also acceptable. Also please provide information on the direction and what the photo is taking a picture of in the short description. Thanks!

Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:

On December 11, 1919, the citizens of Enterprise, Alabama erected a monument to the boll weevil, the pest that devastated their fields but forced residents to end their dependence on cotton and to pursue mixed farming and manufacturing. A beetle measuring an average length of six millimeters, the insect entered the United States via Mexico in the 1890s and reached southeastern Alabama in 1915. It remains the most destructive cotton pest in North America.
