Description:
Many ancient migratory paths of buffalo and other grazing mammals served as the basis of some of our current routes. Aboriginal people would often use the paths to hunt these same animals, as well as to travel throughout their territories. Early military expeditions and explorers took advantage of the existing routes to travel into the wilderness. Settlers also used these same paths to travel into the new territories. Eventually many of these became the basis of our modern roads.
