Amusement parks and zoos offer many memories that we can look back on and share with others, but now that the parks are closed, all we have are our memories, so let's share them with our fellow waymarkers by listing them here.

This category is for posting all those amusement parks, roadside attractions, museums, zoos, and just plain old tourist traps that you remember as a child. Let's make this a trip down memory lane. 

There are many of these now defunct parks and attractions, so let's see your best.

Instructions for Posting a Defunct Amusement Parks Waymark:

To post a waymark for this category you must follow these steps:

Step 1: Locate the site of an abandoned or former park,zoo, or attraction. In the description, please provide as many details about this park or attraction as possible.

Step 2: Provide a link/url to a website that documents the previous existence of the park or attraction.

Step 3: Provide at least 2 current pictures of the location of the former park or attraction. The default picture should be sufficiently large enough to show the general area of the attraction.

Step 4: Provide at least one picture of the park or attraction while it was open. Internet pictures are fine for this requirement.

Step 5: Long description must contain enough information about the the attraction to make the waymark interesting. Please do your homework. No one line descriptions will be accepted.

You must post at least one original picture at the posted coords to post a visit log for this waymark. Extra points if you are in the spirit of the park (i.e., in costume, etc.).

Delmar Garden, Oklahoma's premier amusement park, 1902-1910. Now, Wheeler Park and two granite historical markers (one at the Farmer's Public Market, the other at Bicentennial Park) are all that is left.

Springlake Amusement Park was opened in 1924 by Roy Staton near NE 50th and Eastern. Many Springlake rides had previously been at Belle Isle and included a roller coaster, Ferris wheel, fun house and pool with slides. It closed in 1981 after a fire.
