Name and Title Requirements
The title for the waymark must match the site name listed on the Civil War Discovery Trail; North Carolina Civil War Discovery Trail, Virginia Civil War Discovery Trail or listed on the Civil War Trails site - City, State
If the actual site cannot be found on the brochure, use the title on the marker or site.
Some major sites may be listed on the brochure, but not have a Civil War Trails Sign or Seal. Contact an officer before posting one of these.
Photo Requirements
At least two photos are required for this category:
Required Photo 1.)
Post a picture of the historical marker with the Civil War Trails Seal or Civil War Trails Sign to the site. The coordinates should be at the sign or marker to the site. This must be the default photo.
Required Photo 2.)
Post at least one other picture of the area showing both the marker and the area.
***CLARIFICATION*** This second required photo must show enough of the area to get a feel for the site with the entire marker in the photo - Partial photos of the marker will NOT be accepted for this photo.
The following picture demonstrates an acceptable Civil War Marker AND area photo to fulfill the second required picture.

Other pictures may be required to be able to understand the importance of the area being waymarked.
Coordinate and Long Description Requirements
Take coordinates at the location of the Historical Marker with the Civil War Trail Seal or at the Civil War Trails Sign.
All waymarks must include a Long Description. Along with the text of the marker, further information at the site is welcomed and appreciated, especially historical insights. All information quoted from secondary sources MUST be attributed and either set off by quotation marks or by an HTML blockquote. Items without a Long Description or unattributed quotes will be denied.
***UPDATE 5/24/2021*** You must provide a link to the correct Civil War Brochure - either in the variable or in the Long Description.
