Description:: Train stations were often the first impression visitors had of a community as they were traveling across the country by train. Many stations had unique architecture and very useful in there design. We are looking for stations/depots both old and new and documenting what is happening there today.

Expanded Description:

Waymarks can be both current and historic stations/depots. We are very interested in depots, freight or passenger, that have been converted into other businesses instead or being torn down, and also those depots that are at risk of being demolished because of their state or repair or because the locals can not find a good use for it.

This category does not accept trolley stations or transit style shelters. Stations must be a building that serves or formerly served the rail industry as a station or depot.

To assist you with your research on the buildings check out the Railroad Station Historical Society, Inc. web site. The Extant Railroad Structures section has an excellent catalog of buildings including depots. It lists the year built, railroads served, and current use of railroad structures located in Canada, Mexico, and the USA. History Requirement (Detailed Description): As much history about the station/depot as you can find. If you use sources such as Wikipedia, please cite the material culled from these sources.

Coordinates: Accurate Coordinates for the building acquired at the time of your visit to the site

Important note: The Train Stations/Depots category is looking for depots on active and former rail lines that service or serviced full size operations and not miniature railways or public transit platforms. Depots of miniature railway, hobby lines and public transit platforms will not be included in the category.
