Butchery is traditional work and has a place in every part of recorded history. This traditional work has religious significance in Jewish Law, where meat must be kosher for it to be eaten. Butchery at Butcher Shops involves boning and trimming primary cuts in preparation for sale.

With the growing popularity of supermarkets, grocery stores and mega-marts in some parts of the world, butcher shops are slowly being driven out of business. There are places and communities where this traditional trade is still greatly valued.

No supermarkets, grocery stores or mega-marts will be accepted into this category. Butchery can be performed at these locations but the butcher is an employee of a store that has a varied selection that is not primarily focused on meat.

Please no slaughterhouses or processing plants. Butchery is performed at these industrial locations but this category is for the retail locations where meat can be purchased.
