Description:: Find & spot the Belgian Benchmarks on beautiful places through the country of Belgium.

Expanded Description:

Belgium has also his Benchmark system, these are the Geodetic Points with its own coordinate system to go with it.

In Belgium, several Benchmarks are applied to:
Public buildings, along roads and some on private land / property. These can be top of Churches, measuring stones (with or without a copper point), cast iron marker on house walls etc. 10,000 Benchmarks are marked and have their exact coordinates registered to a high accuracy.

The Lambert 2008 Projection is the projection or coordinate system which is used for the Maps in Belgium.
Using the coordinates between 520000 and 800000.

The projection reference point and the local geoid for GRS 80 and Lambert 2008 coordinate system, located in Ukkel, Belgium.
In the garden of the Royal Observatory at N 50 ° 47 '52 E 4 ° 21' 33 / Lambert Coordinate X 649328 Y 665262

It is very important to us if you spot a Benchmark that's damaged or missing.

Instructions for Posting a Belgium Benchmarks Waymark:

The title of the waypoint should be "NGI Meetpunt: (number) - Name of the city/village where the point is located.

You must post at least 2 pictures taken by yourself. No pictures allowed downloaded from the internet.

One photo, the default image, is required of the Benchmark, NO, we don't want you or your GPSr in the photo. And one beautiful photo must be included showing the surroundings of the Benchmark point. Do not forget the definition of the Benchmark as is showing on the popup Benchmark on the NGI Folder.

The description of any new waypoint in this category must contain the official description of the Benchmark as well as your own description of the location.
