description/mission statement:
The goal of this category is to locate indications of old pathways that served as a basis for a current road. Many of these were first formed by traces created by animals in their seasonal migrations. Aboriginal people would often use these to travel through their territories, as well as to hunt the animals who used the routes. Early pioneers and military expeditions would take advantage of these to travel into the frontier. A number of these routes were the origins of our modern roads, and influenced where many of our cities were founded.
