description/mission statement:
Find Japanese restaurants, visit them and share the experiences with waymarkers alike.
These places can be small mom n pop shops or large/fancy restaurants in malls/casinos, etc. They must focus on Japanese food, not other cuisine from the Orient. Izakayas are a plus as they are more of a social setting. We need to be descriptive of the atmosphere in the restaurant. Is the establishment a family style, teppanyaki, hibachi (cook yourself), buffet, etc?
Family Style: Cheap smaller plates where everyone picks pieces from the plates at the center. This is like sharing appetizers in an American Restaurant.
Izakaya: The focus here is family style, but with beer and sake. This would be the Japanese version of hanging out at a wing restaurant in the states while drinking.
Teppanyaki: You order from a menu and the chef cooks it right in front of you. You normally sit around a large table next to people you don't know.
Hibachi: Normally this is a buffet style place where they have a large line of meats and veggies that you put onto a plate and take back to your table to cook. They also have large pots of miso soup, rice and other side dishes.
Buffet: These aren't that common, but just like in America, the food will already be prepared and you just take what you want.
