description/mission statement:
The group's mission is to locate, identify, and record static artillery displays. Static displays are decomissioned artillery pieces on permanent display. Acceptable artillery pieces include howitzers, mortars, and cannons, rifled or smoothbore. The bores of all weapons reported should exceed .50 caliber (1/2 inch or 12mm). Reports will include accurate latatitude and longitude coordinates, a brief description of the artillery piece, a photograph of the artillery and any identifying markings found on the muzzle, barrel, trunions, or breech. Pictures of nearby signs identifying the artillery and its history is also appreciated.
