Franklin County Courthouse is at Memoral Square, 1 N. Main Street, in the Borough of Chambersburg.
The Franklin County Courthouse was built in 1865, and is the third county courthouse on this site. The second was burnt in 1864, as a result of raiding Confederate forces. S. Hutton, an architect of the present structure, and Samuel Seibert as superintendent of construction were able to design around the columns and walls of the second courthouse.
Between 1786 and 1794, the original structure was built. It was later replaced in 1842 by a more popular style structure, which was burnt in 1864 by Confederates along with the rest of Chambersburg.
