The City of Edmond water tower located at Broadway and Coffee Creek cost $5.9 million, and holds 2 million gallons of water. It is on the east side of the water treatment facility, and just west of the railroad tracks.
From a 2016 Edmond Sun news article:
Council members recently agreed to spend nearly $5.9 million to build a 167-foot tall water tower north of Coffee Creek Road and east of Boulevard.
Kris Neifing, Water Resources Department superintendent, said the 2-million-gallon tower will be the largest in Edmond.
The city has six water towers, each holding a half-million gallons of water. The new tower will mostly serve residents of northwest Edmond.
The contractor is Landmark Structures, of Fort Worth, Texas. Work should start in the next couple of months and last 480 days.
This is the first project of the 2013 Water and Wastewater Master Plan to get underway, Neifing said. The projects will span over the next 30 years.
“We are happy to get a project started,” Neifing said. “It takes a long time to get a project engineered and ready.”
The tower is being paid for with money in the water fund collected from user fees.
“It is a big deal,” Neifing said. “It will be very noticeable. Most things we do are pipes underground. This will be a landmark for the city.”
