Such is the case with the Village of Hythe. Their town hall stands well separated from adjacent buildings and someone eventually snuck in one night and "muraled" the building. Actually, we suspect that the village commissioned the painting of this mural, which is dated 2005 and signed by one
Heimdal. Our Heimdal turns out to be Grande Prairie artist Tim Heimdal, author of many murals, both indoor and outdoor, in the Grande Prairie region and two-time winner of the coveted
Louise McKinney Scholarship from
Alberta College of Art and Design.
8 X 48 feet in size, the mural is a collage of "snapshots" covering essentially all of the west wall of the town hall, depicting scenes of Hythe and area from the 1930s and 1940s.
