Established in 1978, Woodlawn Cemetery is within the Peace River Regional District and is the newest cemetery in Fort St. John. This cemetery one of the two in Fort St. John is the only one accepting new burials. There are approximately 1,337 known interments and the cemetery is about 10 acres in size. It is maintained by the City of Fort St. John. The cemetery is in two sections with only one being used at this time.

There are columbariums and most marked graves have small upright markers. There is white board fencing in the front with trees along the perimeter. There are still large trees along the backside of the cemetery most likely separating it from the golf course. Other than these large trees the cemetery is lawn with dandelions making a showing.

Fort St. John is the largest city in Northeastern B.C. and the largest city along the world-famous Alaska Highway and is Mile 49. It currently has approximately 21,000 residents.
Fort St. John is “The Energetic City” and the title reflects their large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture.
