Can find no information on this man other than he is buried in nearby Greenwood Cemetery and that he died in 1905 at the age of 47.

The memorial is a six sided cement well with a decorative top with a cupola located in the NE corner of the park. The well has been capped, but a pulley still hangs from the roof showing how the buckets of water would be raised from the well. The well was donated to city of Dallas as a memorial to John Henry McClellan.
