"While Rugby is mostly in Morgan County, Laurel Dale Cemetery is just inside the Scott County line. As of April, 2020, upkeep is being supervised by Hattie Carey who can be contacted at 4928 Mt. Helen Road, Allardt, TN 38504. The cemetery was opened in 1881 — soon after Rugby’s October 1880 founding as a British-American settlement — for the burials of six typhoid fever victims and a young child. It was consecrated by Episcopal Bishop Charles Todd Quintard on Feb. 6, 1882, although it is not affiliated with Rugby’s Christ Church Episcopal. It was chartered as a public cemetery by the State of Tennessee on April 27, 1889."
