NASA Astronaut Scott Altman
On Wednesday, October 6, 2004, I visited with the staff of Brian Baird, Representative from Third District, Washington State and shook hands with Representative Brian Baird. Representative Brian Baird and I had a brief talk about the Washington National Cathedral (Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul) as I had Afternoon Tea the previous day in the seventh-floor observation tower with a marvelous view of downtown DC. He told me that he proposed to his girlfriend, now wife, in the Observation Gallery.Afterwards I got lost in the Longworth Building trying to find the exit, and met NASA Astronaut Scott Altman and his group in the hallway. I asked him about the patches on his blue jumpsuit which he explained. I had a couple photos taken with him and was given a commemorative pin (see photo). I researched Altman on the Internet. He was the Shuttle Branch Chief for the Astronaut Office and lead for Cockpit Avionics Upgrade in the fall of 2004. Instructions for logging waymark: A photograph is required of you (or your GPS receiver, if you are waymarking solo) and the Longworth Building or Rayburn House Office Building. Or a photo taken with Representative Brian Baird or NASA Astronaut Scott Altman.
