Sign Says:
"From its founding in 1824 until its demise in 1965, the Cordage was a major player in local and the worldwide maritime industry. In the early 20th century, it employeed 2000 Employees, and it was the largest producer of cordage, ropes and twines in the world.
"To learn more about the company and its immigrant 'operatives' please visit the Cordage Museum in the Tower Building, 10 Cordage Park Circle, open Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 4 pm. Admission is free and we are handicapped accessible."
The sign is by the dock that is on the schematic map. From the main building (Mill #1), you walk across the back parking lot toward Mill #2, crossing the railroad tracks. There is a fence with a gate, and access is available when the gate is unlocked. From there walk toward the dock. The museum is in the center of Mill #1. Stop by. I had a great talk with the two museum volunteers who had worked in the company.
