En 1855, cette chapelle due à l'initiative privée de M. Célérier fut érigée.
Elle mesurait 30 mètres de long et son clocher avait 28 mètres de haut.
Édifiée en 6 mois, la chapelle, baptisée Saint-Ferdinand en l'honneur du cardinal Ferdinand Donnet fut bénie le 15 juillet 1855.
Chapelle en premier lieu, elle fut en 1900 remplacée par une église de style roman sans clocher
Cette belle église de style roman a été construite en 1900 sous les ordres de l'Abbé de Mendivil, curé de cette paroisse sur l'emplacement de l'ancienne chapelle, meurtrie par un cyclone en juillet 1897. Elle fut bâtie par les frères Plantey d'après les plans de Hosteins (ou Hostein ??).
Le clocher, surmonté d'une statue du Sacré-Coeur hautede 4 mètres, oeuvre de Edmond Chrétien, n'a été bâti et béni qu'en 1927, faute de moyens.

This beautiful Romanesque style church was built in 1900 under the orders of the Abbot of Mendivil, parish priest on the site of the old chapel,bruised by a cyclone in July 1897. It was built by the Plantey brothers according to the plans of Hosteins (or Hostein??).
The bell tower, surmounted by a statue of the Sacred Heart 4 meters high, work of Edmond Chrétien, was built and blessed only in 1927, for lack of means.
