"The Church of All Saints (in Italian, Chiesa di Ognissanti) is a Franciscan temple in Florence, Italy.
Founded in the mid-13th century by the lay order of the Umiliati.

The church, begun in 1251, was part of the convent complex of the Umiliati, a Lombard order that arrived in Florence in 1239. Although its rule was approved by Pope Honorius III, the order was part of the poverty movements close to the heresy. The Umiliati established themselves as a male and female lay congregation, dedicated to evangelical perfection and poverty, but especially to work, which was an integral part of the life of the religious, engaged above all in the production of wool and glass.
Ognissanti was the parish of the Vespucci. In the chapel that bears his name there is a fresco by Domenico Ghirlandaio with his brother David (circa 1472), of the Virgin of Mercy protecting the members of the Vespucci family, including the portrait of Américo Vespuccio as a child.
During the 16th century the Umiliati declined, and the Franciscan order assumed control of the church in 1571, bringing back precious relics such as the clothing worn by Francis of Assisi.
The church was almost completely rebuilt according to Baroque designs by Bartolomeo Pettirossi, around 1627, with a façade by Matteo Nigetti, 1637—retaining the large terracora lunettes in the Della Robbia style, now attributed to Benedetto Buglioni, over the entrance: Ognissanti was among the first examples of Baroque architecture to penetrate this Renaissance city. Its two orders of pilasters enclose niches and windows with fantastic cornices.

Inside, the Baroque remodeling provided a completely rebuilt apse with a pietre dure altar (a type of mosaic with stones, derived from Byzantine mosaic, typical of Florence) and a sotto in su perspective (1770) in the vaulted ceiling of the ship".
