Vigo, además, como centro neurálgico de las telecomunicaciones mundiales, pasa a desempeñar un papel estratégico en ambosconflictos siendo objetivo
destacado para los servicios de inteligencia, tanto británicos como alemanes.
Empleados de ambos Cables se alistan o participan en la contienda desde sus puestos de trabajo en la telegrafia, informando de los movimientos del bando enemigo.
Vigo se convierte, en ambas contiendas, en un nido de espías internacionales, entre ellos la mítica Mata Hari, que visitó nuestra ciudad hasta en cuatro ocasiones."

Moreover Vigo, hub of global telecommunications, came to play a strategic role in both conflicts as a major target for the Intelligence services, both British and German.
Employees of both Cables, enlist or take part in the war from their jobs in telegraphy reporting the enemy's movements.
